Gammelstad's Dark History

Price: 200 SEK per person, half price for children 13-17 years accompanied by an adult.

The tour will be offered on six occasions during weeks 44 and 45. Exact dates and times will be announced shortly. All tours take place in the evening, after nightfall.

This is a historical guided tour without dramatization or actors, but with a distinctly eerie atmosphere and stories of grim events, including executions, grave robbers, malevolent beings, and folk beliefs surrounding death. All stories are connected to Gammelstad and the people who once lived here. Who knows, maybe you'll never see the Church Town in quite the same light again?

The tour takes place mostly outdoors, and weather-appropriate clothing is recommended. Please note that there are some accessibility limitations for visitors with reduced mobility or difficulty standing and walking. The tour is conducted in the evening after dark, and parts of the route include uneven terrain. We will also visit a historic church cottage that has not been adapted to modern accessibility standards.

Good to know: This themed tour focuses on Gammelstad's dark history. It does not cover the basic facts about the Church Town, the church, or why Gammelstad is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
