Gammelstad
The second big anniversary event of the year takes place during Persmäss, one of the most important church festivals of the year. In 2026, the tradition is given an extra festive touch as it is celebrated together with the anniversary of the World Heritage Site.

Would you like to experience something truly unique? In clear weather, you may see the evening sun illuminate the triumphal crucifix inside the medieval church in Gammelstad Church Town. Several church cottage owners open their doors to visitors. A map of participating cottages is available at the Visitor Center and in the Visit Gammelstad app (free on App Store and Google Play). You can also look out for the sign “Welcome into my church cottage” in the windows. “Different is good!” is the message of this performance for younger children. In Innanförskogen, all animals are equally important and everyone loves music. Expect fun rhythms and interactive movement. Feel free to bring a blanket to sit on.
