On 8 March, International Women’s Day, we invite you to a fascinating lecture filled with engaging stories about the women of the past in Gammelstad and Luleå.

Emelie Rubensson, guide and tourist information officer at the Visitor Center, will talk about women’s living conditions and social status here in earlier times, and about the role they played when visiting the church town. You will also hear stories about, among other things, the churching ceremony and marriage, along with intriguing portraits of several notable local women.

In addition, Karin Tjernström, an expert in local women’s history, will take part. She will talk about the struggle for equality, equal rights and women’s suffrage in our region.

Take the opportunity to be inspired, fascinated and moved by the female forces within our local history. We’ll see you at Petrigården on 8 March from 13.00 to 14.30. Light refreshments will be available for purchase (payment by Swish).
