The history of the area

Gammelstad Church Town is the largest and most well-preserved church town in the world. Here you will find a medieval stone church, surrounded by hundreds of red church cottages.

Located next door is the open-air museum Hägnan, that displays life on the countryside i the North of Sweden from the late 18th Century to the 1940s.
