The bakehouse is a double cottage, with an uninsulated woodshed in the north room. It has an open vestibule, which is unusual in Norrbotten county and impractical due to our cold climate. The vestibule has been created by simply sawing away the front wall of the foyer.

Well into the 20th Century all larger farms in upper Norrland had separate bakehouses. They were used in the spring and autumn to bake large cakes of flatbread. In the summer months, the household moved out of the main building, and the bakehouse would serve as a summer kitchen and dormitory.

The bakehouse from Hägnan is originally from Antnäs village.
