The open-air museum Hägnan

During the autumn holiday week at Hägnan, we'll immigrate to America! Come and join our exciting history adventure, where you get to follow Emma from Torneådalen, who is in the process of deciding whether she should travel or not.

  • The History Adventure in the Round barn at 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm. An interactive drama where the children get to travel back in time to the year 1903 and help the maid Emma who is facing a dilemma, shall she immigrate to America or not? Will she really be able to leave her family and start a new life on the other side of the ocean? Emma's grandmother knows how bad it can turn out, which she gladly tells. The children get to help Emma with her decision by performing small tasks to find out what it takes to travel, while they form their own opinion. The History Adventure is in Swedish only.
  • Crafts in Gårdshuset 12:00 pm-3:00 pm. Here you can decorate/draw/write postcards to or from someone (a fictional or a real person) that has immigrated to America.
  • Flea market in the Long barn 12:00 pm-3:00 pm. Bargain-hunt in the Long barn behind Kafé Fägnan.
  • The Country store 12:00 pm-3:00 pm. Here you will find sweets and handicraft products in our cosy store with influences from the 1940s.
