The open-air museum Hägnan arranges Easter holiday activities for children April 15-17. Don't miss the chance to go on an Easter egg hunt, try Easter crafts and bread baking, listen to a dramatized story about our Easter traditions and last but not least, take part in a colorful Easter witch parade on Maundy Thursday!

Here you have the program for Hägnan's Easter activities April 15-17:

  • 12 pm- 3 pm. Bread baking in the Peri-Hanscha farmhouse (20 SEK/child).
  • 12 pm–3 pm. Easter crafts in Gårdshuset.
  • 12.15 pm-12.35. Dramatized story for children about our Easter traditions. In Storgården (the large farmhouse), only in Swedish. Free of charge, no pre-booking required.

Do you want to go on a tricky Easter egg hunt outdoors? Fetch clues in Hägnan's Country Store Tuesday-Thursday 12 pm-3 pm.

The Country Store and Kafé Fägnan are open 12 pm-3 pm.

Easter witch parade on Moundy Thursday

On Moundy Thursday, April 17 at 12.45 pm we have our yearly Easter witch parade. The parade starts at Hägnan's parking lot by the boat silhouette. Feel free to dress up and join! No pre-booking is required.

Guided tour for adults-Easter traditions

Take a guided tour with the theme Easter myths, food and traditions! How do we celebrate Easter and where do our traditions really come from? That and more will be the subject on our guided tour about the Swedish Easter traditions. Don’t miss the chance to learn a bit more about our well known and more unknown Easter traditions in an interesting and playful way.

  • Swedish - Tuesday April 15, 3 pm-3.45 pm.
  • English - Wednesday April 16, 3 pm-3.45 pm.

The maid Elin Amalia meets you outside of the large farmhouse (Storgården) at 3 pm. Price 100 SEK per person, free for children accompanied by an adult. Pre-booking required, click here to book your ticket.

Here you have the program for Visitor Center's Easter activities April 15-17:

  • Tuesday-Thursday, 12 pm-4 pm. Creative workshop in the exhibition. Make your own Easter decorations, key chains, bracelets and more.

  • Wednesday at 2 pm. Our Musilda tour with an egg hunt. Meet Musilda and help her find her missing mice family. We head out on a search mission in the church town and look for mice hidden in Easter eggs. Suitable for children between 3-6 years old. We gather outside of Visitor Center.

  • Thursday at 2 pm. Guided tour of Gammelstad Church Town for children. What is a church town and what did people do when they came here back in the days? Why is there a potty under the bed in the church cottage and why are there small lookout windows on the old parish hall? A playful tour that let chldren get acoustomed with the History of Gammelstad in a fun and easy way. Suitable for children between 7-11 years old. We gather outside of Visitor Center.
