Winter holiday activities in Gammelstad

Where: The open-air museum Hägnan and Visitor Center.
When: March 4-6, 2025.
Time: 12 pm-3 pm.

During the schools' winter holiday week we offer activities for children on Tuesday March 4th, Wednesday March 5th and Thursday March 6th between 12 pm-3 pm. The winter holiday week at Hägnan offers skiing, bread baking, crafting, firepleces and a lot of outdoor play. Why not try your skills in our snowshoe track?

Activities at Hägnan

Bread baking for children

Try baking the soft bread "mjukkaka" in a woodfired oven in the Peri-Hanscha farmhouse. Price: 20 SEK per child.

Creative workshop

Try crafting in Gårdshuset, where it's nice and warm. Drop-in between 12 pm-3 pm. Free of charge.

Outdoor activities

Bring your own skis and try out our tracks. We have one short and one ever shorter to try your skills on. On the grounds we also have kicksleds, snowshoes, a sledge and other fun tools for outdoor play.

The Country Store and Kafé Fägnan are open 12 pm-3 pm.

Free kick sleds

Borrow a kick sled for free at Visitor Center and get around the church town in a fun and active way.

Quiz walk

Explore the church town and answer tricky questions about Gammelstad at the same time! The quiz walk consists of 10 questions and is available the entire winter holiday week. Collect your coupon for answers at Visitor Center, and recieve a small price when you are done!

Please note: the quiz walk is only available in Swedish.

Exhibition and Gammelstad Bingo

Look for symbols and items around the church town with a Gammelstad Bingo that you can collect at Visitor Center. And don't miss the exhibition on the second floor, where you can play a digital church cottage game, play in our childrens corner and look for hidden mice.

All activities are free and available during Visitor Centers opening hours; Monday-Sunday 12.00-16.00.
