The old treasure chest on the farm
A log storage building from 1836. Raised storehouses were used to store food such as flatbread, dried and salted fish and meat, as well as cereals and other provisions in need of protection.
To prevent burglary, the raised storehouse had no windows. It was also elevated on posts to help protect its contents from moisture and pests. These two-storey buildings could be used as sleeping quarters in the summer months.
The raised storehouse at Hägnan is from the Mörten quarter, Luleå town.
