FAQ for the Christmas market 2026

The market is open 12 PM-4 PM, December 5-6. Please note that there can be other activities in the nearby area that have different opening hours.

To pre-purchase your ticket via our website costs 50 SEK per person, tickets at the entrance are subject to availability (if there are room for more visitors on the grounds) and cost 70 SEK per person. Free for children under the age of 18.

Please note that we have a limited number of tickets, therefore we recommend that you buy your ticket in good time before the event. The pre-purchase closes one hour before opening each market day (if not sold out). The tickets are non-refundable.

Hägnan's Christmas market is not only a market but also a cultural experience. The ticket includes entry to an old-fashioned Christmas market with carefully selected market vendors, fairytale walks for children, music performances, the Santa family and their reindeer, the wise woman of the croft, the Christmas goat, old Christmas traditions on display and more.

Due to limited space on the market area. We want our visitors and market vendors to have a pleasant and qualitative market experience.

Yes, support companions do not have to pay entrance fee.

All market vendors choose their own payment methods, which may vary from vendor to vendor. Many uses the Swedish payment system Swish but some also accept cash or card. Cash (Swedish kronor) tends to be more common than cards as a secondary payment medhod. At Hägnan’s country store and cafés, you can pay by card or cash.

There is no ATM in Gammelstad Church Town. Tho closest ATM is located at Coop Storheden on Storhedsvägen 1, approx. 5 kilometres away.

Yes, you can take bus number 9 all the way to Gammelstad Church Town. During the market weekend the bus stops at "Sandåkersvägen". You can also take bus number 1 or 2 to "Stadsö Centrum" but from there it's a 20 min walk to get to the market area. See www.llt.lulea.se for timetables. External link.

Hägnan has several parking lots with parking attendants close to the market area. Due to the large number of visitors we recommend you to take the local bus if possible.

The parking fee is 40 SEK per vehicle if you park at any of our attended parking lots. The fee goes the association that manages the parking.

We need parking attendants to control where our visitors park, so we can fit as many cars as possible. They also ensure free passage for emergency vehicles in case of an accident. The proceeds go the associations that manages the parking.

There are four parking spaces for the disabled at the open-air museum Hägnan. These are located at the parking lot behind Kafé Fägnan, with entry from Rutviksvägen.

Leashed dogs are allowed outdoors but not in any of our houses and outbuildings.

Smoking is not allowed indoors or in connection to buildings, activities and visitors.

Kafé Fägnan sells hot beverages, pastries and some light meal options in the café and at some market stalls on the outdoor area.

We have several toilets for visitors during the market weekend. They can be found in the Lodge, behind the Country Store, in the cottage to the left of Gårdshuset, in the Country Store and at Kafé Fägnan.

Changing tables can be found in the Country Store, Kafé Fägnan and the cottage to the left of the Lodge.

You can warm up in the Lodge if needed. The majority of the market takes place outdoors so remember to dress warmly.

Yes, there is a mocrowave in the Lodge that you can use if needed.

The fairytale walk starts outside of Storgården (the large farmhouse) at 1 PM, 2 PM and 3 PM.

The wise woman of the croft can be found in the croft, where she offers good advice to visitors and display how Christmas was celebrated in a poor environment back in the days.

Santa and mrs Claus are outside the Peri-Hanscha farmhouse, where they greet children and collect wish lists. Santa's reindeer mingle at the market area.

The outdoor area is adapted for strollers and wheelchairs but in bad weather conditions the accessibility can be limited. We have ramps to our larger, main buildings but not to all houses and outbuildings.
